Drumming, dance, drama or costume workshops for children preparing to perform at the eMzantsi Carnival provide a safe space for our youth to interact, have fun and build relationships. Each week over a term they take it in turns to travel to each other’s schools in the eMzantsi minibus and get to know another community on the way. For many, it is the first time they have been out of their suburb and into a neighbouring, but very different, cultural environment. It is a simple way to confront fears and banish stereotypes.
