Research is a key component of the eMzantsi project, with monitoring and evaluation being managed in partnership with iNCUDISA, the Intercultural and Diversity Studies unit of Southern Africa, at UCT from 2005-2012.
Both founder Sam Pearce and research coordinator Haley McEwen, have Masters in Diversity Studies from iNCUDISA, and are local south peninsula residents. Under the auspices of Associate Professor Melissa Steyn, Haley oversaw both quantitative and qualitative research on various aspects of the project, as well as carrying out regular diversity training with eMzantsi staff and facilitating teams.
Harlequin Foundation scholarship recipients Ruvimbo Gwatirisa and Emma Arogundade were iNCUDISA Masters students who engaged in monitoring and evaluating the intercultural music project and the primary schools twinning programme respectively.
