The theme of the inaugural eMzantsi Carnival in 2005 was ‘African Kings and Queens’ and our participants were encouraged to interpret it in any way they saw fit – from African lions to Cape fisher princesses. Our first float, the Masiphumelele Bull, was created from recycled materials by Lebo Lefuma to represent the strength and pride of his community.
