The theme for 2007 was ‘eMzantsipation: Free Yourself’, commemorating both the emancipation of slavery at the Cape on 1st December 1834, and celebrating our right to freedom from crime across all our communities in the present. Ten different communities made floats: Scarborough Rocks was pink, Noordhoek was purple, the Farm Village went green and gold, Sun Valley was yellow and Capri came fruity (courtesy Rogers). Simonstown brought Just Nuisance and made a blue wave, Muizenberg came as sea creatures, Kommetjie came in a boat, Ocean View built a ghost slave ship and Masiphumelele claimed a future free from HIV with their giant red ribbon.
