eMzantsi Talent

The eMzantsi Talent agency is a product of the success of the intercultural music project. The standard of local performers is exceptionally high, with a wide range of styles from opera to gumboots to gospel and everything in between. The acts featured below were either developed by eMzantsi music facilitators, or have proved their mettle in front of diverse crowds at eMzantsi 4WAY LIVE concerts and at the post-Carnival shows – some even at FIFA Fanfests! Either way, they bear the eMzantsi stamp of approval – quality is guaranteed.

Please note that the Harlequin Foundation is a non-profit organisation – all fees go to the artists. The eMzantsi Talent agency aims to empower south peninsula youth to become professional and be rewarded for both their talent and commitment.

Tight Lucy

Tight Lucy is an innovative 3-piece Afro-rock band from Cape Town, South Africa, named after a mysterious bomber plane that Ray, Guy and Iain take to flight. Their sound can best be described as Johnny Clegg meets Squeal, or Freshlyground with balls…

Lead singer and guitarist, 'Captain' Ray Vega, prolific songwriter and musician, performed with bands such as Citrus, Brass Monkey and Naked, whose single 'Bone Needs Flesh' went to number 2 on 5fm in 1998.

Drummer, 'Bomber' Guy Mitchell is an experienced musician who has played for bands such as Braintree, Skywire and Rain, who were signed by Sarepta and won SA Rock Album of the Year, 1998.

Bassist and vocalist, Lieutenant Iain Behr, is a qualified music producer and experienced musician who has composed music for film, adverts, and other media.
