Statement on behalf of the Harlequin Foundation board and management issued Tuesday 15th November 2011
The Harlequin Foundation would like to state that, thanks to Standard Bank Fish Hoek, the 2011 eMzantsi Carnival will go ahead as planned on Saturday 3rd December. Despite delays in the processing of funding from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, bridging finance from Standard Bank will cover the most urgent costs for the day. We would like to thank them for their faith and support.
The Harlequin Foundation board would like to pay tribute to the eMzantsi team of staff, facilitators and mapiko crew who have committed to working without pay this month to ensure that the hundreds of children and youth on our pre-primary, primary, high school and intercultural music projects who have been working together all year get the opportunity to showcase their achievements on the day. We would also like to thank Touareg for their community spirit in providing tents to protect the children from the sun and wind at the post-Carnival show.
