eMzantsi Talent : Silent E Geez

This group was founded in 2003 by childhood friends from Masiphumelele who went to school at Fish Hoek High. Originally called the ‘White Nites’, Wonder Mathambeka and Sibusiso Stonga recast themselves as the ‘Silent E Geez’ when their core focus shifted from R&B to hiphop. Since their debut at the eMzantsi Carnival in 2005 aged 15, they have worked with nationally acclaimed musicians such as Pro-Kid, Teargas and many more.

Silent E Geez are not just another rap act. Their style is fresh, and their attitude is upbeat and tongue-in-cheek. Their lyrics reflect their pride in their community and faith in the future. Wonder and S’bu are great role models who regularly participate in HIV and crime awareness events, as well as facilitating the Masiphumelele wing of the eMzantsi music project.
