eMzantsi Talent : Cape Velvet

Cape Velvet are a superb four-part harmony group that have been performing ‘smooth classics’ together since 2008. Akhona Fuzile, Mzukisi Diniso, Mbuso Diko and Masibulele Malima are well-known by music lovers in the south peninsula for their spine-tingling renditions of a wide repertoire of opera, traditional Xhosa, Afrikaans liedjies and English classical pieces.

From “Nessun Dorma” and “Ave Maria” to Miriam Makeba’s “Click Song” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”- not forgetting “Shosholoza” and “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” – Cape Velvet has something for everyone. Following vocal training by Kalyn Arndt of All Nations, and mentoring by Peter Willis of the Quarrymen male-voiced choir, they now perform regularly at events everywhere from the deep south to the Waterfront. They are in great demand for weddings and funerals, and wowed the crowds on the FIFA Fanmile and at the Fanfests in 2010.
