Nomthandazo Silo rehearsed the Chulumanco dancers, a group of girls and boys aged 8-12 from Masiphumelele twice a week from Sept to Carnival. They performed alongside the Ocean View youth orchestra, continuing to practice four days a week under the guidance of Angeline Constant.
Local dance teacher Teva Scarborough brought youth from Ocean View and Fish Hoek together in a collaboration entitled ‘One Tribe’. They worked for 8 weeks on this dynamic and inspiring piece and performed at the Carnival to a riotous reception.

Teva was also employed as carnival choreographer with responsibility for ensuring consistency of moves during the parade across many groups from primary schools to various dance and youth groups. She visited them all twice in the two months leading up to Carnival.
Alvin Castro of Arts Vibrations II was invited to choreograph a dance piece for carnival day at the fourway with his group of breakdancers from Ocean View. They worked weekly from Sept to Dec and performed for 30 minutes to the crowd gathered at the junction ahead of the parade’s arrival.
