eMzantsi Bloco 2011

The eMzantsi Bloco ghoema-samba band, a unique carnival combination of brass and drums, was a highlight for 2011, firstly because of the irresistible nature of the music and secondly because it marked the first eMzantsi collaboration to venture out of south peninsula proper – around the corner to Hout Bay. There were weekly rehearsals from Sept to Dec, alternating between Ocean View and Hangberg, with the eMzantsi minibus bringing 12 from each side to the other each week. Each band would rehearse once or twice a week in addition to this weekly get together.
